Group Class Coach
CrossFit Level 1 Trainer
a little bit about me
I began Crossfit in 2010 after stumbling upon a video of Annie Sakamoto and Greg Amundson flying through a workout like I had never seen before. At the time my wife and I had just had our son and I was looking for a workout we could both do without the need to find childcare, so we purchased a bunch of equipment and began training out of our basement. Years later after some coercion and perhaps some public shaming I agreed to drop in at our friend’s gym one Saturday morning. Immediately afterwards I told my wife that we were making a huge mistake by not joining in on this community and all it has to offer.
Immediately upon joining the gym I recognized the important role that the coaches had in the lives of the members and vice versa. I obtained my Crossfit Level 1 Certification in 2016 and began coaching until my family moved to Lafayette in 2017 and joined Uncommon. I truly enjoy each opportunity I get to coach such a diverse group of people with varying levels of ability. This is one of the only environments where you can have one person lifting ridiculous amounts of weight being cheered on by another person who’s about to get her first ever box jump after a month of working up the determination to try. I know that training for me is one of the most enjoyable parts of my day so when I coach a class, I try to make sure that I do my best to make that hour we share together the best hour possible.
