Our March 2021 Member Spotlight goes to….
Jay and Jacqueline Magers!!
Jay: I’m active duty Military.
Jac: I’m a Yoga Therapist, Studio Owner, Pilates teacher full-time for several years now after 12 years working in finance at PU.
.
Q2: How did you get into Crossfit?
Jay: I had been wanting to try it and Jacqueline suggested going to the free classes.
Jac: We started in the first year Uncommon opened. We knew it was opening and wanted to try because we loved fitness, but had hectic schedules. So after waiting several months, we scheduled a private foundations course since we couldn’t ever make it to the scheduled ones.
Jay: Anything with kettlebells, snatch.
Jac: HSPU because I love being upside down.
Jay: Thrusters. They just suck the life out of me.
Jac: Anything really heavy…. I have an innate resistance to doing anything to failure or maxing out that I’m still exploring.
Jay: Regardless of what level you’re at or how long you have been there, everyone encourages and supports you to do better.
Jac: The mind-body connection. There’s a foundation at Uncommon that understands that movement is healing and the mind and body are connected. The community is important too.
Jay: That there is always room for improvement. And when I think I am not able to do something, I do.
Jac: How resistant I am to “fighting.” I’m still exploring that, and it’s quite an interesting exploration.
Jay: eating sweets, especially pie and cake
Jac: Ice cream
Jay: Spending time with family and friends, playing guitar, and just enjoying life.
Jac: Two toddler boys and a puppy keep us on our toes. We love spending time together, going outside, doing yoga, taking walks … doing things is getting easier as the boys are getting older.
